Welcome to Just Sel! I'm so glad you found your way here. Hopefully this post will give you some information about my site and get you well on your way to navigating it like a pro.

THE BASICS:

What can I do on Just Sel?

If you aren't a member, you can read certain blog posts, watch my book trailers, read summaries and see photos/mood boards for my books, and learn a little bit about me as a writer. Which brings me to the next question...

What can members do on Just Sel?

In addition to everything listed above, members can read all of novels on the site (including those I haven't yet published anywhere else) as I write them, read blog posts containing exclusive previews, sneak peeks, & behind the scenes looks, and chat in a members-only forum. It's worth noting that membership is 100% free, requires only your email, and is completely secure—absolutely no one can see your information but you.

Why are all of your books on here?

After juggling a variety of writing platforms—Wattpad, Figment, Underlined, Swoon Reads, and Radish to name a few—all of my books are scattered everywhere around the World Wide Web, with nowhere to call their official home. That's what this site is.

When Figment shut down at the beginning of the year, I was also without a place to publish my books as I wrote them. I didn't want inconsistent updates on Wattpad, my Radish & Swoon Reads were for completed/polished projects only, and I wasn't in love with the format of Underlined. So that's what this site will become for me now: a place to post my drafts, all in one place, as I work on them. That means you will get chapter-by-chapter updates on here, as soon as I write them.

Are you still going to update elsewhere?

Absolutely! My other main site will be Wattpad, where I will start uploading a book after I've made significant headway (to avoid large gaps in updates!) However, some books, such as Ellucid, will remain 100% exclusive to Just Sel—so if you want to read those, you're going to have to join!

Aren't you afraid of plagiarism?

All of my chapters have a built-in function that prohibits copying and pasting, making them just as safe as any other online website. And it goes without saying that all of my work is protected under copyright law. Consider yourself warned.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

When are updates?

Updates will come at a whenever-I-post-them schedule. That's why I have this site and don't upload directly to Wattpad—I know my chapters will be inconsistent, and this site is only for those who really want to see my work way before I start uploading on Wattpad on a routine. That means you may be surprised with three or four chapters in one week and then may not get another chapter for another three weeks. It depends on my schedule and my life, but I guarantee that the chapters will come and you will see them before anyone else.

How about blog posts?

Blog posts, too, will come sporadically. I will include a healthy mix of all-access posts and *special* members-only posts.

What are some of your new projects?

Right now (as of March 2018) I am focusing on editing Ellucid and writing The Back of Wednesday—but keep checking the members-only blog section for previews of upcoming projects!

What is reading a book on this site like?

I've spent hours and hours making it as user-friendly as possible. You can hop around to any chapter in the book from any other chapter thanks to a helpful table of contents on your left, and when you're done with the whole book—poof!—a link at the top will take you back to a list of all my other books. I've combined the best aspects of Wattpad and Figment and (hopefully) meshed them together for your enjoyment.  You can also comment on chapters and point out things you like or hate (as always I'm looking for feedback!)

ABOUT ME:

About my books:

My books range from mystery to realistic fiction to fantasy, but typically center around normal teenage girls doing normal teenage things.  I'm fascinated by daily life and the complexities that the smallest action can create.  To me, writing such realistic circumstances allows me to explore scenarios that I may not get to in my own life.  I also delve into deep concepts that I suspect the average person contemplates often: life versus death, what it means to truly be alive, how happiness is created, what it means to be truly independent, etc.

My characters are strong, they are sometimes unlikable, and they change exponentially throughout their novels.  These changes reflect the changes that I encounter as I live through them.  If you haven't realized it yet, my writing is deeply personal and I write almost entirely for myself.  My readers are my pick-me-up when I need an extra dose of motivation :)

Why did I start writing?

I've been a writer since I was old enough to pick up a pencil.  To me, telling stories is a natural thing and is an extension to breathing—it's as habitual as brushing my teeth.  My writing has gone through its ups and downs, but it's always been something I've come back to and fallen back on when I need it.

Ideally, I will turn my writing into a career, but right now I'm just enjoying finding myself through my words and meeting amazing people from all over the world.  Writing has changed me as a person and has shaped me like nothing else I've ever done in my life. I suspect I'll keep doing it until the day I die.

Me, personally:

My readers know me as a hardworking, cheerful person who rarely takes a break when I'm trying to reach a goal.  On a more personal level, I'm in love with life and eager to make the most of every opportunity I have.  Some words to describe me?  Dancer, writer, proud Christian, hopeless romantic, obsessive studier, lover of nature, beach-walker, high schooler, Disney movie watcher, pop music listener, puppy lover, shopaholic, maker of to-do lists, dreamer, rider of cars with the windows down, long hair, big heart.  I love a lot of things, strongly and passionately, and I don't think it's in my DNA to have hate.  I'm a feel-good, act-good person, and I embrace chances for happiness and joy.

I love to interact with my readers and I chat with them as often as I can!  I've formed a lot of friendships that have transcended many years of storytelling, so please don't hesitate to reach out to me.  My contact information can be found in the main menu of the website.

My corner of the Internet:

I tend to write multiple books at a time and publish them as I write.  While I can undergo a month or two hiatus while I go through difficult/incredibly busy times in real life, I am online and updating frequently.  New chapters are posted for my works in progress anywhere from one to multiple times per week.  I have been known to update daily or even multiple times per day when I have a lot of free time and am particularly obsessed with a story.

I reply to all comments on my books and answer every single message I receive.  My readers are everything to me as without them, I would have never made it so far with my writing.
